Pastor Bud Pratt:  Lead Pastor:  bud@firstgrandville.org
Bud began pastoring First Church In June 2012. He is a graduate of Hope College (’78) and Western Theological Seminary (’82). Bud and wife, Patty, have been in ministry for more than 30 years; most of that time working together for the Kingdom side by side. They have a son, Phillip, who with his wife, Becky pastors a church in Stanton, New Jersey. They have recently added to the family Bud and Patty’s first grandchild, Eva Joy, born to Phil and Becky in May 2012. Daughter, Kristen, lives with her husband Christopher Frederick in Peoria, Illinois.
Bud and Patty have a passion for strong worship. Bud enjoys teaching God’s Word, and, as a family, they enjoy boating, skiing (on water both hard and soft), and Cubs baseball.

 

Angie Walker : Children's Minister : angie@firstgrandville.org
Angie Walker has served as the Children’s Minister at First Church since 2001. She graduated from Reformed Bible College (now Kuyper College) with an Associate's Degree in Religious Education. She has been involved in children's ministry for over 15 years. She is married to Jim and has two children, Mikayla and Will. Her passion in ministry is to work with families to help children grow in the knowledge of Christ, to accept Him as their Savior, and to have them share their faith with others.


Mark Slotman:  Youth Pastor: mark@firstgrandville.org
Mark has been the Youth Director here at FRC since 2010. He graduated from Hope College in 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts in Physical Education and Religion. He is married to his wife Rachele and they live here in Grandville and are proud parents of six fish which are kept in his office at church. Mark has a passion for ministering to our jr. high and high school students by meeting students where they are at and using the Word of God to help mold our students in to avid Christ followers. Through games, retreats, messages and small groups our youth are challenged to daily follow God and show his majesty in everything that we do.

Barb Nienhuis: Director of Worship:  barb@firstgrandville.org
Barb Nienhuis is our Director of Worship and has been involved in the music ministry at FRC since 1985. She directs our children’s choir, leads our praise team and is part of the worship planning team. Having studied music at Western Michigan University, Barb’s greatest passion is sharing the joy of music with our church family because of the many ways music can uniquely influence and inspire us to grow closer to God. Barb and her husband Doug live in Grandville and enjoy spending time with their three married children and five grandchildren.

Patty began serving First Church in August 2012. She is a graduate of Hope College (’81) where she prepared for a lifetime of sharing her faith through the gift of music. Because she believes we are all created to praise the Lord, Patty finds joy in equipping others to use their gifts to actively participate and encounter God in worship. 


Judy Mesman : Maple Tree Preschool Director : e-mail
 Judy Mesman Has been the director of Maple Tree Preschool since 1982, and she is also one of the teachers.  Her passion is to share the joy of learning about God's world with her students and to remind their parents that children are "one of God's best gifts!" (Psalm 127:3). Being part of the larger staff of First Church allows Judy to view Maple Tree as as natural extension of sharing Jesus love with the world right at our door. A life-long member of First Church, Judy graduated from GVSU with her teaching degree in elementary education. Before coming to Maple Tree Judy taught in both the Northview and Grandville Public Schools. She and her husband, Doug, have two children.


Nancy Engels : Service Coordinator : e-mail
As the Service Coordinator for First Reformed Church, Nancy's passion is to be a "Doer of the Word" and to help others find the joy that comes from service in Christ's kingdom. 1 Peter 4:10 states that "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others . . ."  The mission of the Service Coordinator is to glorify God and build up His church, by providing leadership and organization that equips and empowers all those at First Reformed Church to use their spiritual gifts in serving God's family. 

Nancy graduated from Davenport College and has attended Kuyper College. From 1978 - 1986, she worked for the Reformed Church in America in the areas of Missions, Speakers' Bureau and TRAVARCA. Nancy is also currently employed part-time at Grandville Public Schools. Nancy and her husband, Dennis Engels, have three children, Drew, Carrie and Mark.
